Team-based learning in CUHK (SZ): How effective it is in promoting knowledge and soft skill acquisitions among the medical students
Team-based learning (TBL) is a teaching modality that aims to provide students with more active learning opportunities, as well as developing other soft skills. As the name suggests, students will be learning in a ‘team’ through peer discussions while trying to solve the problems given. Students will also be guided by the facilitator and content experts during a TBL session such that deep learning takes place. TBL is of particular interest in medical education for its potential to sharpen communication skills and teamworking among the medical students - skills that are desirable for future doctors. This project aims to investigate if TBL is effective in 1) promoting active learning, 2) developing communication skills and teamworking, and 3) acquiring and applying knowledge to solve complex problems among CUHK (SZ) medical students.
