CUHK-Shenzhen Ling College Announced in Recognition of RMB 150 Million Donation by Baihe Holdings Group
On July 20, the Donation Agreement Signing Ceremony between Baihe Holdings Group and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen was held at the University's Administration Building. The event witnessed the announcement of Ling College, the fifth college of the University.

Address by Prof. Yangsheng Xu
Mr. Guoqiang Ling, the Chairman of Baihe Holdings Group, shares a deep connection with our university. He is the nephew of Dr. Daoyang Ling, a renowned forester and agronomist, as well as a prominent educator who has served as the President of Chung Chi College and United College, and during his tenure, facilitated the establishment of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Dr. Ling was a native of Buji, Longgang, Shenzhen. In 2018, CUHK-Shenzhen organized a commemoration ceremony and unveiled a memorial garden in Ling’s honor to mark the 130th anniversary of his birth.

In his address, President Yangsheng Xu said, " Dr. Daoyang Ling participated in the founding of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. And 60 years later, his spirit and noble calling have blossomed and flourished in his hometown of Longgang. This is a meaningful coincidence and a historical destiny. The donation of Mr. Guoqiang Ling to CUHK-Shenzhen marks a renewal of this beautiful fate. It is not only passing on CUHK's fine tradition and history to CUHK-Shenzhen, but also carrying on the Ling family's values of respecting education and fostering talents for the country." Following the address, President Xu officially announced that the fifth college of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen would be named“Ling College" in honor of Dr. Daoyang Ling.

Mr. Guoqiang Ling, Chairman of Baihe Holdings Group, expressed that it was significant to donate RMB 150 million to support the development of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen and the establishment of Ling College. First, it further realizes his ambition to build education and nurture people and talents; second, he feels proud to pass on the spirit of Dr. Daoyang Ling and the Ling family’s tradition and motto to his generation; third, it is a tribute to the motherland as this year marks the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland and the eighth year of CUHK-Shezhen’s establishment. "I hope to contribute more to the country and society," said Chairman Ling.
