Speaker Profile:

Professor Chih-Yung Chien, a world renowned physicist and educator, studied high energy physics and obtained his Ph.D. degree from Yale University after graduating National Taiwan University. He had taught physics and conducted experimental physics research for over 40 years at the Johns Hopkins University. Back in 1988, he was invited to lead the work for establishing the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and appointed as the university’s founding Vice-President for Academics and Dean of the School of Science.

In 2009, Professor Chien was invited by the National Chengchi University in Taiwan to establish Boya College and promote liberal arts education. In 2015, he established Xingyuan College at the Ocean University of China and served as the founding college master and he is currently an advisor and distinguished chair professor of the university.
