In the mid-90s, I formed an alternative indie rock band "Glorious Pharmacy" and acted as the Lead Singer. We rebelled against mainstream culture and music. I also tried to create some folk songs, and performed solos. In 2003, I released my first folk song album "Birds That Can Fly High Don’t Land on the Backs of Oxen That Can't Run Fast" . The album triggered a group of folk musicians to set off a "New Folk Song" wave movement in China. The music style is different from rock, pop, western folk music or campus folkmusic. Most of the works focused on the social issues at that time, and drew nutrients from traditional Chinese music.

In 2005, my interest shifted to improvisational music performance and experimental music. And I got involved in the plays, modern dances and film music composing. So far, the composing work has became my main creations.

Since 2010, I expanded to "music behaviors" and tried to consider music as the carrier with the function of connecting people, space and time. My team and I have carried out a series of public art projects : Music Portrait (2010-2015), Feedback (2016-2018), and Nursery Rhyme Program (2018 to present).

Nursery Rhyme Program has been carried out for 3 years. The songs we’ve been collecting are all treasures from the memories of the elderly, who are from different places in China and speak different local dialects. We aim to protect those songs, to pass on the sound of history to the next generation and into the future. The project also aroused my interest in music education.
