Abstract：

This talk will introduce the concept of intelligent robots and present a few robots that we are developing. We will discuss the basic feature of intelligent robots and their impact to artificial intelligence, as well as the future of human lives.

Speaker’s Profile:

Professor Xu Yangsheng was born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, China. He received his BEng and MEng degrees from Zhejiang University, China. He obtained his PhD degree from the University of Pennsylvania in the US. From 1989 to 1997, he worked at Carnegie Mellon University (USA) and subsequently joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is former Pro-Vice-Chancellor/Vice-President and Professor of Automation and Computer-Aided Engineering at CUHK. In August of 2013, Professor Xu was appointed the first President of CUHK -Shenzhen after a global search and selection.

Professor Xu Yangsheng is dedicated to the research of robotics, intelligent systems and control, and design and manufacturing, including service and space robotics, wearable interface and intelligent vehicles. He has published six books, and over 300 papers, in academic journals and for international conferences. He is an Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Fellow of International Academy of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Academician of International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, and Fellow of Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Science.
