CUHK-Shenzhen Graduates to be Granted Hong Kong Work Visa
Hong Kong's Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu delivered his first policy address at the Legislative Council on the morning of October 19, rolling out a series of measures in regard to attracting global talents, enhancing the city's competitiveness as an international financial hub, and further integrating into the country's overall development plan. It is pointed out in the address that the government will relax the Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates (IANG) by extending the limit of stay from one year to two years to facilitate their staying in or coming to Hong Kong for work. Additionally, the city will expand the scope of the arrangements to cover those who graduated from the GBA campus of a Hong Kong university on a pilot basis for a period of two years. The pilot arrangement will be reviewed after the first year of implementation.
Upon its release, the policy drew a swift response from the faculty and students of CUHK-Shenzhen. According to the arrangements, graduates of CUHK-Shenzhen will have the opportunity to obtain employment visas in Hong Kong.
