Students at CUHK-Shenzhen will select a first major out of the six programs (Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Marketing and Communication, and Financial Engineering) and pursue a second major of Interdisciplinary Data Analytics at CUHK.
During the four-year study period, students will enjoy flexibility in their choice of courses and spend two years on each campus for studies, research, field trips, and internships at top-notch institutions. A list of equivalent courses at CUHK and CUHK-Shenzhen is available to allow students to complete the required/elective courses and fulfill the graduation requirements of their home campus. A bachelor’s degree of CUHK will be awarded with two majors printed on the degree certificate.
The dual-location program will provide a cross-border learning experience as well as internship opportunities to students, which will be particularly advantageous for those who are interested in pursuing a career in the Greater Bay Area. Subject to approval by CUHK’s Senate, the new program is expected to be launched in the 2023/24 academic year. CUHK and CUHK-Shenzhen will admit a total of 40 to 50 students every year, with CUHK admitting students through the Joint University Programs Admissions System (JUPAS) and other admission channels, and CUHK-Shenzhen admitting students under the admissions system for Mainland undergraduates.
Hong Kong and Shenzhen are two major global cities in the Greater Bay Area, and are in a leading position internationally in areas such as global business, finance, and innovation and technology. Students of the brand new program will gain cross-border learning and work experience, which will help facilitate their network building in the Greater Bay Area. They will also benefit from the abundant resources and opportunities offered by the two cities, which will help propel them to thrive in their future careers in all kinds of institutions. This, in turn, will undoubtedly contribute to the nurturing and concentration of international and inventive talents in the Greater Bay Area.
