Notification of Application for the Second Batch of Shenzhen Anti-epidemic Special Projects 2022
1. Eligibility
(1) The PI of the project should be a full-time researcher of CUHK(SZ).
(2) Wherever application demonstration is involved, the location of the application demonstration scene shall be specified, and the "Technology Application Demonstration Project Agreement" signed with the technology user unit shall be provided. The demonstration site should be within Shenzhen (including the Shenzhen-Shantou Special Cooperation Zone). At the end of the project, the technology user unit should issue an evaluation report. (For the topics related to application demonstration, please refer to Annex 1)
(3) Encourage joint applications focusing on key issues, e.g. the joint cooperation and collaborative innovation by universities, research institutes, enterprises, and medical and health units etc. The number of collaborative partners (not counting our university) is limited to 2, and the following regulations should be observed:
a). Provide a collaboration agreement, clarifying the division of research tasks, intellectual property rights and other related matters. The project team from CUHK(SZ) should undertake no less than half of the research duty;
b). The funding allocated to CUHK(SZ) shall not be less than any other single collaborative partner. No funding shall be allocated to collaborative partner outside Shenzhen (or the Shenzhen-Shantou Special Cooperation Zone).
c). At least three of the first five members of the project team should be researchers from CUHK(SZ);
d). If any enterprise is involved, the amount of self-raised funds shall not be less than the amount of funding allocated to the enterprise by the project, and a letter of commitment for self-raised funding shall be provided.
2. Funding amount and duration
Please see Annex 1 for more detail.
3. Application materials
(1) Application form of the Shenzhen Science and Technology Anti-epidemic Special Project.
(2) Project feasibility report;
(3) Original copy of intellectual property statement;
(4) Original copy of scientific research integrity letter;
(5) Copy of Shenzhen social insurance certificate of not less than half of the project members (i.e., more than 50% of the total number of researchers involved in the project, including the PI of the project) for recent 3 months (up to Jan 2022);
(6) Collaboration agreement (if there are collaborative partners);
(7) The "Technology Application Demonstration Project Agreement" should specify the demonstration site, which should be in Shenzhen (including Shenzhen-Shantou Special Cooperation Zone);
(8) If the project involves issues related to scientific research ethics and technology security (such as biosafety, information security, etc.), the relevant ethics and biosafety review procedures of CUHK(SZ) shall be followed. The corresponding materials and forms shall be provided according to Annex 5 and sent to the following email. The corresponding letters will be issued after the review is completed.

(9) It is highly recommended, thought not necessary, to provide the following supporting materials, whichever appropriate, such as intellectual property certificates (including patents and software copyrights), journal citation reports, award certificates, research grant contract at national or provincial level etc.
The academic, technical, and economic objectives or deliverables set out in the proposal should be scientific. The quantitative objectives/deliverables will be used as the basis for project review, contract signing, project management, and project evaluation, and will not be allowed to adjust or modify in principle. The difference between the budget in the proposal and the actual approved amount will be made up by self-raised funding.
4. Application Form
Proposals must be submitted electronically through the SZSTI’s online system (https://sticapply.sz.gov.cn/).
5. Deadline
Please Submit the application before 17:00 on February 22, 2022, and RAO will review the applications.
Applicants should log in the system and fill in the project application form online before the deadline. Upload the copies of the application materials with the official stamps of the university in the system, and then click "Sign and Print" to submit the uploaded documents for review.
6, Points to note:
(1) One applicant, from universities, scientific research institutions, medical and health institutions, can only lead one special project as PI. The same enterprise can only take the lead in applying for one special project only.
(2) This special project does not consume the quota of SZSTI projects.
