Professor Jianwei Huang and Team Win IEEE WiOpt 2021 Best Paper Award
Optimal Fresh Data Sampling and Trading, a paper from the Network Communications & Economics Lab (NCEL) led by Professor Jianwei Huang, received the Best Paper Award at IEEE WiOpt 2021, the leading international conference on wireless networks. Prof. Huang is currently a Presidential Chair Professor, the Associate Dean of School of Science and Engineering (SSE), and Deputy Director of Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Society (AIRS), CUHK-Shenzhen. Exploring new business models for real-time data trading markets, the paper offers valuable insights into real-time data updating and pricing mechanisms that can help improve the economics of real-time data markets.

IEEE WiOpt (International Symposium on Modeling and Optimization in Mobile, Ad Hoc, and Wireless Networks) is a premier international conference in the field of wireless networks, bringing together the latest research on modelling, performance evaluation and optimization in networks. Its research focus includes, but is not limited to mobile networks, edge computing, intelligent networks, content-driven networks, cognitive networks, vehicular networks, robotic systems and the Internet of Things. Of the more than 40 papers accepted by WiOpt 2021, only one could emerge as the Best Paper award winner.

About Prof. Huang

The corresponding author of the paper is Professor Jianwei Huang, Presidential Chair Professor, Associate Dean of School of Science and Engineering (SSE), and Deputy Director of Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Society (AIRS), CUHK-Shenzhen. He is also a Pengcheng Distinguished Professor, IEEE Fellow, IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Lecturer and Web of Science Highly Cited Researcher in Computer Science. Dr. Huang has long focused on pioneering research at the intersection of network optimization, network economics and crowd intelligence. He has published 7 academic monographs and 300+ papers in leading international journals and conferences, with a total Google Scholar citations of 14000+ and an H-index of 59 (top 0.05% in the computer sector). He is the co-author of 9 Best Paper Awards, including the IEEE Marconi Prize Paper Award in Wireless Communications in 2011.
Professor Huang has served on the editorial boards of several leading international journals in the field of communication networks (JCR Q1), including IEEE JSAC/TMC/ToN/TWC/TCCN/TNSE. He has served as the Chair of IEEE Communications Society Cognitive Network Technical Committee and Multimedia Communications Technical Committee. He is the recipient of IEEE Communications Society Multimedia Communications Technical Committee Distinguished Service Award in 2015 and IEEE GLOBECOM Outstanding Service Award in 2010. Huang is currently the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering.
