The Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC has initiated the application for the 14th Five-year Plan's National Key R&D Program of " Mathematics and Applied Research” and other seventeen specialized projects 2021. Details of application requirements are as follows:

1.  Funding fields

Including Mathematics and Applied Research, High Performance Computing, Multimodal Networks and Communications, Blockchain, New Energy, Advanced Materials, etc.

2.  Funding amount and duration

The duration of program is four or five years, please refer Annex 1 for the funding intensity.

3.  Requirements

A. Applicants shall meet the following qualifications:

(1) Born on or after January 1, 1961;

(2) Have senior academic title or PhD degree;

(3)Shall not less than six months per year for researching.

B. Shall conduct collaborative research with researchers from research institutes, enterprises and universities within China;

C. Agreements（the agreement should include terms of division of tasks, ownership of intellectual property, etc.）shall be signed by the applicants and the whole collaborative institutions;

D. Applicant shall only apply for one project concurrently;

E. The total number of the national programs(except for NSFC programs) a researcher applies for (including as applicant and main participant) and undertakes (including as applicant and main participant) shall not exceed 2;

F. Shall upload employment proof for applicants from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and foreign countries;

G. Proposal shall be written in Chinese;

H. For the program of "Unveiling the List", there are no limits on applicant’s age, education background and academic title. Research teams who have confidence and ability to solve national core technologies are strongly encouraged to apply;

I. The program of Young Scientist. The Young Scientist Program has been set up as a special type under the National Key R&D Program. In principle, no subject will be set for the project and the budget evaluation will not be organized. Applicants are encouraged to boldly explore new methods and paths which are more innovative and subversive so as to better achieve the overall goal of the project.

J. Applicants shall read the application guide(Annex 1)carefully for more specific requirements.

4.  Procedure of application

Online application

Applicants shall fill out pre-application forms and upload supplementary documents online via the application system ( http://service.most.gov.cn ) .

Paperless submission

In the stage of submission, applicants shall only submit online application, without submitting any hard copies.

5.  Deadline

Applicants shall submit pre-application forms online by 24:00 on July 2, 2021.
