Presidential Chair Professor Kai Hwang Receives 2020 Wu Wenjun AI Natural Sciences Award
Recently, the 10th Wu Wenjun AI Science and Technology Awards for 2020 were officially announced. A team led by Professor Kai Hwang, Presidential Chair Professor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, won the Wu Wenjun AI Natural Sciences Award, the University’s first award from this organization.
The Wu Wenjun AI Natural Sciences Award is hailed as "the highest award of China's intelligent science and technology" and represents the highest honor in the field of artificial intelligence. With the guideline of "respecting knowledge, talent and creation" and the goal of "stimulating innovation and achieving the future", the award rewards groups and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to intelligent science and technology activities. The award has won wide social acclaim for promoting the spirit of science, advancing innovation and development of intelligent science and technology, and vigorously enhancing the level of innovation and industrialization of intelligent science and technology in China.
About Prof. Kai Hwang
Kai Hwang is currently a Presidential Chair Professor in Computer Science and Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He also serves as a Chief Scientist at the Cloud Computing Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is the receiver of the Overseas Distinguished Contribution Award of China Computer Federation and the Lifetime Achievement Award from IEEE CloudCom 2012. He has taught at the University of Southern California and at Purdue University for 46 years prior joining CUHK. He received the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley. Dr. Hwang has published extensively in the fields of computer architecture, parallel processing, cloud computing, and network security.
