On April 23, four undergraduate students from School of Management and Economics（SME）won the championship at the South China Section of HSBC Mainland China Business Case Competition with 10,000-yuan bonus. The team will represent Mainland China to participate in the Asia Pacific finals of the competition in June. This is the second time that the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) has participated in the HSBC Business Case Competition.

The CUHK-Shenzhen team,including Yu Jiahui, Liu Shihuai(sophomore of Applied Economics), Tu Zihan( freshman), and Chen Annan (senior student of Global Supply Chain and Logistics Management),is under the guidance of Prof. Stella So and Prof. Mao Lei. With solid professional knowledge and outstanding performance, the CUHK-Shenzhen team defeated Sun Yat-Sen University, South China University of Technology, South China Normal University, Jinan University, Shantou University, Southern University of Science and Technology, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Beijing Normal University - Hong Kong Baptist University United International College and many other college teams. In June, the CUHK-Shenzhen team will jointly represent Chinese universities in mainland China with Peking University, the North China Champion, to participate in the Asia Pacific finals in Hong Kong.

“Being the only freshman in the team, the pressure is quite high. But along the way, I have received a lot of support. The experience of the competition and teamwork is the most valuable gain for me. ” Tu Zihan, a freshman of SME, hopes to live up to everyone's trust. Liu Shihuai, a sophomore student said:" Participating in the competition made me feel that CHUK-Shenzhen has formed its own heritage. Li Ziqi and other seniors, who won the championship of the competition last year have given us much valuable advice. Our confidence was boosted and they gave us a sense of honor. In this year’s competition, we also have an excellent freshman as our teammate. I hope that this tradition can be passed down." Liu Shihuai said. He is now studying Applied Economics at CUHK-Shenzhen. In his veiw, the opponents of the Asia Pacific finals will be stronger and the cases will be even more difficult. "We are always in the process of learning and progress. Follow the footprints of the seniors，we hope to go further in the Asia Pacific finals." Liubin said.

Prof. Stella So, Assistant Dean of School of Management and Economics, believes that the HSBC Business Case Competition truly tests the knowledge and skills students have learned. "Our students excel in case analysis, solution advice, and teamwork spirit. " Prof. Mao Lei hopes that students can forget about the rigid dogma during the business competition and think independently while conveying ideas to others. "The Team really shows their independent thinking capacity. I hope they will make a real impact with their enthusiasm and ideas."

“You need to believe in yourself and enjoy the process.”Chen Annan, a junior student highlighted that undergraduate student must have a fixed goal for the four-year university life. Chen is now studying Global Supply Chain and Logistics Management at SME, CUHK-Shenzhen. Yu Jiahui, another junior student majoring in Global Supply Chain and Logistics Management believed that HSBC competition focuses on real-life business cases and requires competitors to provide workable solutions. “The whole course of the competition is very interesting. I am very grateful to SME for its full support. I would like to thank Prof. Mao Lei for your guidance, and Prof. Stella So and Yanting for accompanying us all day during the competition. Thank you for your around-the-clock advice.” She said.
