Master Forum: Professor Hui King-man Michael

Customer Relationship Management-Why and How? How to find a balance between success rate and cost during the process of customer relationship management? What is the necessary connection between product marketing and market management? Professor Michael Hui, Vice President of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, gave a speech to answer these questions at CUHK (SZ) on November 24th.

To explain the importance of managing customer relationship, Professor Hui illustrated cost of management, strategy of management in different situation and the connection between cost and commercial profit. After the speech, Professor Hui answered some questions from students. In his response to a question about customer relationship and product development, Professor Hui pointed out, for students interested in marketing and channel development, user experiences and market segmentation must be a focus. In the end, Professor Hui encouraged the SME students of CUHK (SZ) who are willing to get a job in business to learn to practice.

About Professor Michael Hui

Professor Hui King-man Michaelis Choh-Ming Li Professor of Marketing at the Faculty of Business Administration. Heobtained his BBA fromThe Chinese University of Hong Kongin1980 and his PhD from the London Business Schoolin1988.

 Professor Hui’s primary research interest is in the area of service consumption behaviors. His articles have appeared in prestigious business journals includingJournal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research,Journal of MarketingandJournal of International Business Studies. He was listed as a prolific services marketing author (Journal of Retailing,1993) and as one of the top 10 authors in Asia-Pacific universities in the top three marketing journals in 1991-2000 (Journal of Marketing Education, 2003). One of his papers was recognized as the first services marketing paper published byJournal of Consumer Research,a top marketing journal specializing in consumer research (Journal of Retailing,1993). Professor Hui currently serves on the Editorial Board of four international journals includingJournal of Marketing, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Retailing and Consumer ServicesandJournal of Business Research.

On the teaching side, Professor Hui has won a number of teaching awards at CUHK including the Outstanding Teacher Award presented by the Faculty of Business Administration in 2003 and the campus-wide Vice-Chancellor’s Exemplary Teaching Award in 2005.He is currently Pro-Vice-Chancellor at CUHK.
